In my report to the National Committee last fall, I noted that the cumulative weight of an increasingly unpopular war, Katrina, indictments, incompetence, corruption, scandals, cronyism, and deeply felt anxiety with energy costs and the economy had taken its toll on the standing of the Bush administration...

The Iraqi people have awakened from the nightmare of dictatorship only to be plunged into a seemingly bottomless abyss of bombings, torture and executions by the U.S. military; death squads, attacks on civilians and exploding sectarian violence between the Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish communities; car bombings and other terrorist attacks on civilians by Al-Qaeda-type groups in Iraq...

The Bush-Cheney Administration has plunged our nation into the worst Constitutional crisis since the Civil War. The abuses of power they have committed are legion: an illegal pre-emptive war, lying to Congress and the people, warrant-less spying, mass incarceration of innocent people here and around the world, torture, corrupt no-bid contracts with crony corporations like Halliburton, criminal negligence in abandoning the victims of Hurricane Katrina...

The recent raids on the homes of the independence leaders in Puerto Rico by the FBI are a continuing example of U.S. imperialist arrogance over a colonial people. The CPUSA condemns the FBI raids and the attacks on journalists covering them. The only solution is the transfer of all sovereignty to the Puerto Rican nation.

Whereas, Coca-Cola bottling plants in Colombia have been involved in supporting paramilitaries who have murdered and persecuted union workers there; and

Whereas, United Students Against Sweatshops, the U.S. Steelworkers Union and others have called for a boycott of Coke to pressure the company to cease this practice; and,...
