A delegation of the Communist Party USA recently completed a ten-day working political visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The CPUSA delegation included chair John Bachtell, Secretary-Treasurer Roberta Wood, National Board member Chauncey K. Robinson, and National Committee member David Trujillo. The ten-day visit was filled with informative political meetings with various ministries of the Vietnam government, labor, and community organizations, along with tours of the beautiful and vibrant areas of the country such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ha Long Bay.
Some of the poignant topics the delegation was able to discuss within these meetings included the continuing struggle for justice for victims and survivors of Agent Orange and the Vietnam-American war, the East Sea conflict, and Vietnam’s continued path of renewal through implementation of their version of the socialist- oriented market economy. Ranging from the U.S. delegation’s meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, to their tour of the Cu Chi Tunnel historic site, the delegation was able to take in a wealth of knowledge, along with strengthening the already established ties of comradeship and solidarity with the CPV and the Vietnamese people in their continued journey for prosperity under socialist ideals.
