Here in Connecticut it’s been a busy and exciting time. After returning from the national convention in Chicago this June, we spent the summer registering voters, going door to door in our club neighborhoods, hosting People’s World voter registration tables at neighborhood parks and super markets, and getting out the word about what has been won for jobs and workers rights and youth in the past four years. Picnics, a club house party and a Friday Night People’s World Film and Discussion Series gave a chance to introduce new friends to our movement.
Meanwhile, we organized 54 people to march with the Communist Party / YCL contingent in the People’s Climate
March and participated in statewide organizing with labor, religious, peace and environment groups. On October 24 the Peoples Center was honored by the New Haven Board of Alders Black and Hispanic Caucus with a big turnout of youth, union, peace and immigrant groups. We’ve been part of the Labor 2014 get out the vote program and other election campaign work in key cities.
We are now getting ready for the annual People’s World Amistad Awards honoring three allies to be held at a local high school on December 7.
