The MAGA majority in the U.S. House and Senate have passed the ugly Big Beautiful Bill extending tax cuts for the rich and slashing the social safety net for working and oppressed peoples, women, seniors, and children. They have conspired against the needs and democratic rights of the people. The people are resisting.
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) singled out some key impacts of the bill, among them: 8 million people lose food assistance, $300 billion cut from college affordability, 17 million lose healthcare, and much more. The impact of this bill affects the whole of the economy, making ICE the largest police force in the nation, maintaining the military as the largest in the world, and cutting programs that help people, and especially children, to survive.
As Mark Froemke, a trade union leader in Minnesota recently said “This bill commits egregious crimes against the U.S. people. It is a crime against humanity.” He pointed out that many of the bill’s provisions did not kick in until after the 2026 elections as Republicans attempted to keep the impact of their actions hidden prior to the elections. It will be a struggle to make the Republicans own this bill.
Further the bill increases the debt by $5 trillion. The deficit the Republicans are creating is likely to be used by them in the future to justify cutting social services even further. This bill implements the anti-people, anti-dermocratic, oppressive, racist, misogynist, and anti-LGBTQ+ agenda of the super rich and the MAGA minority. It must be remembered that Trump barely won the election, and there is no mandate for his agenda. This bill reflects the incredible level of contempt the rich, Trump, and their MAGA flunkies have for working and oppressed people, and women, and for their lives.
People are already hurting due to the Trump MAGA agenda, including migrants working and living in the U.S. The Communist Party USA rejects the Trump agenda, rejects the MAGA budget bill, and calls on all people to rise up and protest the passage of this atrocity. Over the coming period, resistance 2.0 will continue to grow, and this bill can be repealed if a large all-people’s campaign can be built to make that happen.
We join all people in the United States rejecting this bill, and the way it has been undemocratically forced on the workers here based on gerrymandering, voter suppression, and other anti-democratic acts by the Republicans, and by their rich backers. This bill is fundamentally undemocratic, anti-human, and a threat to the existence of humanity on earth as it demolishes environmental protections.
We join all people’s organizations and unions who stand in opposition to this bill, and who will work to reverse it and meet the needs of working and oppressed peoples in the United States and globally. No to the MAGA agenda. Yes to people, peace, and planet before profits!
The struggle continues!
