In response to U.S. imperialism’s MAGA-inspired international bullying, Asian and European leaders gathered in China recently, marking the celebration of the end of World War II and a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Over 20 countries were present, including India, the DPRK, Turkey, Egypt, Russia, Malaysia, and Pakistan.
Gaza, the Ukraine war, the doubling of tariffs against India, the bombing of Iran, and other provocative actions lurked clearly in the gathering’s background. While the centers of revolutionary initiative have clearly shifted away from Europe over the last several decades and toward the South and East, are new centers of anti-imperialism emerging? Can rivalries between emerging socialist and capitalist countries, who export capital, be termed anti-imperialist? If so, where and in what circumstances?
