CPUSA calls election conference 2026

Call to the CPUSA National All-Party Conference on Political Action, May 23, 2026, starting at noon eastern, with the theme “2026 elections — repel fascism and build for the future.”

In towns large and small across our country, a powerful resistance is rising in opposition to ICE raids, economic hardships, fascistic violence at home, and imperialist war moves abroad. The demand is growing that elected officials represent the interests of the multi-racial working class, not the white supremacist billionaires and capitalists. The ability to organize broadly and deeply in solidarity will determine the outcome of this struggle.

Trump and MAGA are doing everything to steal the upcoming elections so they can consolidate power and impose their destructive anti-democratic agenda. They are attempting to use direct threats from ICE and stricter voter ID requirements to suppress the vote. A new level of organizing and collective action at the ballot box is needed to end MAGA control of the House and Senate and in local elections on November 3. We have a special role to play in upholding the leadership and interests of the working class. That is why we are holding a national CPUSA All Party Conference on Political Action on May 23, 2026, starting at 12:00 noon eastern.

Elections are a hard-fought means to express working-class power — not just on Election Day, but every day in our workplaces and neighborhoods. Elections are an opportunity to engage with neighbors and co-workers on the issues. In this way, door-to-door campaigning can help to organize clubs, connect with our neighbors, and prepare to run our future candidates. The skills we can gain include speaking to a variety of people and understanding their needs and issues, deepening our knowledge of our local conditions, and learning the nuts and bolts of political campaigns.

Campaigning on the issues at election time is an opportunity to deepen our relationships with unions and other coalition partners, including immigrant rights, housing, health care, education, and civil rights groups, get out the vote (GOTV) initiatives, religious organizations, the peace movement, and women’s, LGBTQ+, and student groups. Building a united movement with these coalitions is necessary to stop the dangerous move to fascism, bring forward our program, and, in our day-to-day work, fight for our future. The immediate fight for democracy is part of the longer-term fight for socialism.

Everywhere, clubs have an important role to play. It is of the utmost importance that we gain experience in different parts of the country, since elections and campaigns are different from state to state and city to city. Leading up to the conference, we will identify key races and support these areas as much as we can.

Articles and other materials leading up to the conference can spark discussions in clubs and districts. We will go door-to-door across the country to engage neighbors for the March 28 No Kings III and May Day mass rallies.

The conference itself will have a national presentation online, with in-person gatherings to watch, and then to discuss and formulate a plan of work leading up to Election Day and beyond. After the conference, we will have materials generated from it.

We will have 175 days from the conference to the election to build a lasting movement. The conference is ultimately about building broad people’s movements on the issues and building the Communist Party, including running Party candidates to repel fascism and win multi-racial working-class gains for the future. We in the Communist Party must make sure that what is possible happens.
