This educational has the objective of upgrading our understanding of the struggle to defeat the ultra right and win control of Congress from the Republican Party in the 2006 elections. The goal is to place in bold relief the central questions of why and how clubs can contribute to achieving a 2006 electoral victory while growing the Party and YCL with the increased distribution of our press at the same time. The suggested reading is presented by Joelle Fishman, chair of the CPUSA Political Action Commission.
The club should make sure every person has in their possession to read before the discussion a copy of the report, which can be accessed online at .
A discussion leader should be selected to facilitate the discussion. At least 45 minutes should be devoted to the full educational discussion.
Discussion Questions:
1. What is the overall strategic vision of the Party? How does defeating the ultra right in the 2006 election fit in with the overall vision of the Partys strategic policy?
2. What are the national and local issues around which a mass upsurge in your area can be brought into being and mobilized to win electoral victory in 2006?
3. What can your club and district do to contribute to the building of this upsurge that is needed to win an electoral victory in 2006? With what unions and organizations can your members partner to help bring about this upsurge? What are the key races and issues in your area around which members can become active? How can you link growing the Party and YCL and readership of the Party press with these activities?
