The executive order stripping federal workers of their fundamental right to unionize and collectively bargain is the Trump administration’s latest attack on the trade union movement. It is a blatant act of union-busting designed to crush organized labor’s power and silence dissent against this administration’s relentless assaults on democratic rights.
By robbing federal workers of their right to organize, big business seeks to discipline labor and further attack public-sector workers. But this is not just an attack on federal worker unions; it is an attack on all workers, part of the capitalists’ broader strategy to weaken the working class and consolidate power for the billionaires.
This executive order is political retaliation against unions that have fought the administration’s attacks in court and in the streets. It is a calculated attempt to break worker solidarity and impose a dictatorship of capital over the public sector. But these capitalists underestimate the growing militancy of the labor movement.
To every worker, trade unionist, and anti-MAGA force: Now is the time to fight back! The CPUSA Labor Commission calls for:
- Mass mobilization: unite unions, community organizations, and all progressive forces in protest against the attacks on our democratic rights!
- Working class fightback: link this struggle to the broader movement against cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, education, immigrant rights, the privatization of the Post Office, and fascistic attacks on constitutional democracy!
The labor movement was built through struggle and it is through struggle that we will defeat this reactionary offensive.
