The Communist Party USA unequivocally condemns the illegal, inhumane, and monstrous proposal by President Trump to “clear out” the population of the Gaza Strip.
Trump’s suggestion that the Palestinian population should be removed from Gaza and “absorbed” by Egypt and Jordan is a blatant call for population transfer. The United States, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt are all signatories to the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), both of which categorically declare forced population transfers illegal. Additionally, the U.S., Jordan, and Egypt are signatories to the 1907 Hague Convention, which also prohibits such transfers under international law.
Trump’s proposal is not only illegal but constitutes a crime against humanity and must be unambiguously rejected.
This proposal represents yet another chapter in the long and shameful history of U.S. support for Israel’s genocidal and criminal treatment of the Palestinian people. Since Trump’s return to office, while slashing nearly all foreign aid to other countries, including vital humanitarian aid to developing nations, his administration has doubled down on its military backing of Israel and its war against the Palestinian population. The Communist Party USA reiterates its condemnation of the United States’ complicity in these criminal actions and calls for an immediate end to all forms of support — military, economic, and diplomatic — to the State of Israel.
We call on all those who value democracy, human rights, and human decency to join together and pressure the U.S. government to end its support for the criminal actions of the Israeli government.
