The California District Organizing Committee of the Communist Party USA urges all Californians to come out to vote in support of Prop 40 — the Billionaire Tax — on the November 2026 California ballot. Prop 40 is a one-time 5% tax on California’s 200 billionaires. Sponsored by Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West, the tax is urgently needed to cover the state healthcare funding gap created by Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. The state proposition will raise an estimated $100 billion. 90% of the taxes collected will be earmarked to fund CA healthcare. The remaining 10% will go toward food assistance programs and K-12 public education. Without Prop 40, essential services, such as emergency care, will be shut down, causing enormous hardship for working-class Californians.

The November 2026 midterms are shaping up to be a positive turning point for U.S. democracy, and to set back MAGA fascism. Trump is already enacting laws and breaking other laws in order to rig November’s election results through measures such as racist and anti-democratic redistricting, and threatening to cancel the midterms altogether, in anticipation of progressive electoral wins against his MAGA agenda.

Billionaires including Google co-founder Sergey Brin are spending millions of dollars to defeat Prop 40, and have put two propositions — Prop 41 and Prop 42 — on November’s ballot, in an attempt to defeat Prop 40.

It’s up to all of us, the 99%, to turn out with a massive vote and show these billionaires that it’s time for them to pay their fair share, that these midterms are not for sale, and that the working class is refuses to live under the inhumane conditions being put forward by the MAGA agenda.
