“Our homeland is humanity,” wrote Cuban national hero José Martí in 1895. Even before the Revolution of 1959, many Cuban patriots linked their struggle for self-determination to a broader project of liberation. Since the Revolution, Cuba has been a beacon of solidarity with oppressed people around the world, including here in the United States — even as our government has enforced a blockade designed to strangle Cuba’s development and starve its people. Now, Donald Trump and Marco Rubio have tightened that genocidal chokehold in an effort to crush Cuba’s resistance. But Cuba’s friends are mobilizing in defiance of Washington and Wall Street, and we here in the U.S. have a special duty to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and compel our government to end the blockade. Join us for a report from the Nuestra América Convoy and a discussion of what we can do in the struggle against U.S. imperialism, war, and genocide.
