Party members in Minnesota joined Code Pink, peace activists, and community members at the Moorhead City Council meeting on Monday, March 11, where they passed a ceasefire resolution, joining a long line of cites across the country demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The vote for the resolution was tied, but was broken in favor of passage by the mayor.
The resolution in Moorhead, Minn. is one of the most progressive resolutions that has been passed nationwide. Not only does it call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire but also demands the U.S. cease all funding and military packages to Israel.
The following Monday, comrades, peace activists, and community members called on the city commission in Fargo, North Dakota to also pass the same resolution. The collaborative initiatives between the two sister cities recently resulted in the mayors of both Moorhead and Fargo issuing a joint statement that effectively supports the call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and immediate humanitarian aid.
