Here's what's usually going on when conservatives talk about OUR FREEDOMS:
'Economic freedom' means freedom for the rich to oppress the poor.
'Religious freedom' means letting Christians force their beliefs on other people.
'Freedom of speech' means that neo-Nazis get to speak on college campuses, while Colin Kaepernik gets blacklisted for a silent protest during the National Anthem.
It means the freedom to agree, the freedom to work harder for less, the freedom to wave the flag or sit down and shut up.
And that isn't freedom at all. That's fascism draped in the stars and stripes. And since 1936, the primary goal of every Communist Party in the world has been to destroy fascism.
So why haven't we left? For the same reason that the heroic Viet Cong resistance didn't give up South Vietnam to an American puppet government. For the same reason Rosa Parks didn't just pick another seat. For the same reason the Water Protectors of Standing Rock didn't just go find some other water to protect. This is our home. These are our people. And we won't give up without a fight.
