What are some of the latest developments in the struggle for a ceasefire in Gaza, and how can we help move it forward?
According to the Working Families Party Congressional ceasefire tracker, at least at least 64 members of Congress, including four Senators, have called for a ceasefire or cessation of hostilities as of January 3. On January 16th, Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson signed on to Cori Bush’s H.Res. 786, bringing the total number of co-sponsors up to 18.

State and local electeds
On January 9th, over 175 state and local elected officials urged Biden to immediately call for a permanent ceasefire. Are your local elected officials on the list? If not, tell them to sign on today at bit.ly/CeasefireNowLetter.
City council resolutions
Since the new year, eleven more cities have passed resolutions calling for a ceasefire, bringing the total number up to 41. In 19 more cities, resolutions have been proposed that need more support. Has your local government or school board passed a similar resolution? If not, the Council on American–Islamic Relations has produced a toolkit for helping you get started on building a local campaign with others.
Labor’s role in the fight for peace
Unions representing more than 1 million workers have signed on to a labor-backed petition sponsored by the United Auto Workers, UFCW Local 3000, the Association of Flight Attendants, and the UE. If you are in a union, share the petition with your coworkers, and see if you can get your local to sign on as well!
D.C. demonstrators demand: ‘Ceasefire Now!’
CPUSA and YCL members joined a large and powerful action in the nation’s capital sponsored to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Among those marching with Palestinian and Jewish led organizations were labor unions, anti-racist and civil rights organizations, faith communities, and others.
