WHEREAS,
the US working class needs an ideologically strong Communist Party,
WHEREAS,
in the spirit of working class internationalism, the Communist Party builds close bonds with the Communist and Workers Parties throughout the world,
WHEREAS,
A Communist Party organized on the principle of democratic centralism ensures our ability to play a strong organizing role in the class struggle. Democratic centralism combines the maximum involvement of the membership in determining policy and in the democratic election of leading committees with responsible direction from one national center coordinating the activity of the entire Party along commonly agreed-upon lines of policy.
WHEREAS,
A Communist Party must be based on science and identifies truth from facts; our members shall continually strive to improve their political knowledge and understanding of Marxism-Leninism,
WHEREAS,
A Communist Party ceases to be a Communist Party when it abandons Marxism Leninism, abandons scientific socialism and abandons its revolutionary leading role,
WHEREAS,
The proposed draft changes to the CPUSA constitution drops or minimizes scientific socialist terminology such as Imperialism, internationalism, solidarity with Communist an Workers Parties, democratic centralism and Marxism Leninism,
WHEREAS,
These ideological changes are a precursor for more fundamental ideological changes in the direction of social democracy,
BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Texas State Convention of the CPUSA adopts a stand in favor of scientific socialist, in favor of our existing Party Program and Constitution and rejects the ideological changes in the new draft constitution of the CPUSA.
