Good morning, revolution!

Good morning, revolution!

Happy Birthday Karl Marx! Friday, May 5th was the 205th birthday of scientific socialism’s famous co-founder, and leader of the First International.

Jordan Neely, a queer, neurodivergent Black man, was murdered by a white vigilante in public on the subway in NYC, and the police let him walk free. The fight for justice requires the anti-racist, pro-democracy majority to organize and actively demonstrate its opposition to white supremacist violence. The New York Young Communist League organized an action by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office demanding the killer be charged and brought to justice. Read their statement here.

On May Day, 10,000 Hollywood writers voted 98% to strike. The refusal to meet writers’ demands stems from the drive for maximum profits, but it’s a race to the bottom for the workers, and a danger to democracy.

In a new development in the fight against fascism, four Proud Boys aka “the Shame Boys,” were convicted of sedition on Thursday. Is justice being served? What will it take to bring about a decisive defeat of fascism and its backers?

Big time corruption surrounds SCOTUS. Though it is no surprise for the world’s leading capitalist country, it’s got to be fought against. Basic democratic rights — not least of which is affirmative action — have got to be defended, and radical reform of the Supreme Court is needed.

Mailbag: How does the CPUSA hope to obtain revolution, and what are its plans for the period immediately after the transition to socialism?

The Communist Party USA is a  revolutionary working-class  political party founded in 1919 in Chicago, IL. The Communist Party stands for the interests of the American working class and the American people. It stands for our interests in both the present and the future. Solidarity with workers of other countries is also part of our work. We work in coalition with the labor movement, the peace movement, the student movement, organizations fighting for equality and social justice, the environmental movement, immigrants rights groups and the health care for all campaign. But to win a better life for working families, we believe that we must go further. We believe that the American people can replace capitalism with a system that puts people before profit — socialism. We are rooted in our country's revolutionary history and its struggles for democracy. We call for "Bill of Rights" socialism, guaranteeing full individual freedoms.
